GitM 5: Magnanimous Bastard

January 24, 2011
by

Muddy Monday is a feature in which we “get in the mud” with fat haters by accepting their arguments (even the ones we disagree with) and still find holes in their logic.

Good morning my fellow fat enablers! How are you doing this morning?

Good?

Well, I think you’re overestimating, because as we all know, each day you spend learning about Fat Acceptance, you are pushing this nation closer to the edge.

At least that’s what the media wants us to believe. Fat Acceptance is fat enabling.

And, in a way, they are correct.

We are enabling fatties. Fuck, I’ll be the first to admit that. To the extent of my ability, I enable each and every one of you fat bastards to live your life as you see fit. You want to stuff your face with cheesecake? Go for it. You want to starve yourself into a size 2? Be my guest.

But I won’t stop there. I also hope to enable you to love yourself unconditionally; to seek happiness where you choose, rather than at the bidding of weight loss companies; to love your body in all of its jiggly sensuality; to cast-off shame and despair for failing your 10th weight loss attempt; to pursue health…or not; to be who you want to be, regardless of the fear-mongering.

The basic concept is bodily autonomy, and I support it 100%.

This Muddy Monday, we’re going to look at the popular claim that Fat Acceptance is enabling obesity.

There is a great range of claims that FA is fat enabling. There are those who just come out and say it, those who want to save the children, and those who cite outraged health professionals. Then there are those who claim Marianne Kirby’s claim of gaining 100 pounds after giving up dieting is a lie and that Normal Eating® would have saved her from a life of fatness, those who claim Fat Acceptance is allowing feederism to flourish, and those who claim there is a limit to how accepting we should be.

Before we get in the mud, I want to point out something about those last two items. First, regarding feederism, that article is from ABC News and uses the following headline: “Lusting for Fat: Gainers Come Out of the Closet” with the subheader: “As Fat Acceptance Voices Grow Louder, Blogs Celebrate Putting on the Pounds.”

Sounds like we’re in for an in-depth discussion about how Fat Acceptance is encouraging feederism, right?

Except, there’s only one line about Fat Acceptance:

The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance also condemns the practice of so called “feederism,” because it coerces a person to become larger.

The rest of the article is about how our culture is rewarding fat people:

In a special report, the celebrity magazine In Touch Weekly looks at what it calls Hollywood’s “big new obsession” and the perks of being overweight: “fame and fortune.”

Ah yes, the perks of being overweight. Did you know that, being morbidly obese, I’m allowed to use handicapped parking spaces without a pass? Or that I receive a free order of large fries when I order my six Extra Value Meal lunch? Man oh man, it’s good to be fat.

And, of course, the article goes on to use whatever source will confirm their suspicions:

“The days of justifying our fatness by lying and saying we have a mysterious genetic or metabolic disorder are over,” says the Bigger Fatter Blog. “We now freely admit to and embrace what the fat haters would call gluttony. We are fat because we eat huge amounts of food and we like it.”

For those unaware, Bigger Fatter Blog is an anti-Fat Acceptance blog. I have yet to figure out if its authors are actually feeders with a contempt for Fat Acceptance or if it’s a satirical blog attacking Fat Acceptance. Either way, I think they’re a bunch of assholes.

Yet these ignorant fuckwads are thrown in as evidence that “As Fat Acceptance Voices Grow Louder, Blogs Celebrate Putting on the Pounds.”

That article is one, steaming pile of shite intended to discredit Fat Acceptance by tying it directly to feederism. And as we have previously discussed, feederism has nothing to do with Fat Acceptance whatsoever.

But that’s a red herring. I prefer people who take a more nuanced tone, like this person:

Look, I’m all for Fat Acceptance.   I’ve been fat.

When am I going over the line of “Fat Acceptance” though?

When I go to Walmart and I see a person who is so obese that they cannot walk around the store, but must ride in a scooter, and their huge belly hangs down in between their knees and thighs almost to the foot rests of the scooter, am I being “unaccepting” to find that sight not only disturbing but disgusting?

Yes. Yes, you are.

Because here’s the thing: the person who is so obese that they need a scooter (nevermind the fact that you don’t actually know why they need a scooter other than FAT + SCOOTER = TOO FAT FOR ACCEPTANCE) is rare. As I have previously written, I am 5’7″, 260 pounds, which gives me a BMI of 40.7. That means I’m perfectly balanced on the borderline of morbid obesity.

The ever-delightful Michelle Allison recently wrote about the show “Heavy” and how “nearly 100 million Americans suffer from debilitating obesity.”

Michelle and I both have a BMI over 40. Do you know how many people are fatter than us? 5.7%.

We’re both fat, but we’re both far from requiring a scooter to shop. In fact, I would venture to guess that the number of people who rely on scooters for shopping trips is less than 1%. Yet seeing them is evidence that Fat Acceptance has gone too far? Or that Fat Acceptance should somehow exclude the Bad Fatties?

I think the better explanation is that you are seeing more fat people because you have been trained to see more fat people. It’s not that Wal-Marts have become permanent Shriner conventions with fatties spinning donuts (mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…. donuts) in their Rascals.

It’s that we have been taught for over a decade that fatties are everywhere, with thanks in no small part to the headless fatty phenomenon. Every story about the obesity epidemic comes with two things: a reference to 2/3 of the population being too fat and this guy:

Except that guy is not illustrative of the Fat Panic. For an accurate cross-section of body sizes, you should check out Kate Harding’s BMI Illustrated (complete with morbidly obese Michelle).

Saying that Fat Acceptance is dangerous because it enables feederism or fatties in scooters is like saying that Civil Rights is dangerous because it enables gang life and young black criminals. If you spend your time looking for the dark side of a political movement, you will find it.

Being able to tie two seemingly related issues is not the same as establishing a cause and effect relationship. Yeah, you can create a plausible theory as to why the Civil Rights movement led to “welfare queens” and criminal entitlement, but you would have to ignore the complex reality. You would have to ignore the history of racial discrimination and injustice in this country in order to accuse the NAACP of enabling all the worst stereotypes of black people.

The same goes with Fat Acceptance. You would have to completely ignore the history of socially-encouraged disordered eating and unhealthy lifestyles promoted by the media in order to point the finger at Fat Acceptance and say, “They are enabling [insert fatty stereotype].”

And besides, how dare anyone in this society, particularly those in the media, accuse Fat Acceptance of enabling unhealthy lifestyles when our “culture” has always promoted an unhealthy lifestyle at the other end of the spectrum, and always will.

Yes, Fat Acceptance is bad because they enable obesity, yet our popular culture is blameless in the deaths of 9,576 teenagers each year because anorexia is “rare.”

The whole thing reminds me of Dan Quayle vs. Murphy Brown. For those youngsters who don’t recall, “Murphy Brown” was a popular television show in 1992, when George Bush (the original) and Bill Clinton were sparring in public.

Around the election, Murphy Brown (Candice Bergen) gets pregnant, but the father wants nothing to do with it. Murphy decides to go through with the pregnancy anyway, which, in 1992, the subject of single mothers was still a relatively taboo subject in society.

Well, Bush’s Vice President, Mr. Potato Head (aka Dan Quayle), tried to tie the LA riots and gang violence to a breakdown of family values and, somehow, Murphy Brown.

That quote received the most attention, but his words just prior that put it into context:

“Ultimately, however, marriage is a moral issue that requires cultural consensus, and the use of social sanctions. Bearing babies irresponsibly is, simply, wrong. Failure to support children one has fathered is wrong. We must be unequivocal about this.”

Sound familiar?

The current Fat Panic is of an unequivocal nature and they say that being fat irresponsibly is, simply, wrong.

But society overwhelmingly rejected Quayle’s analysis because it did not take the complexity of the issues into account and attempted to make a folk devil out of a positive role model.

That is where we, as Fat Acceptance advocates, stand today. We are attempting to help people make peace with their bodies and provide them the educational tools to make healthy, informed decisions about their bodies. But, ultimately, we respect each individual’s right to use their body as they see fit.

That is not enabling; that is the very foundation of freedom in this country.

So, if you are looking for an overly simplistic folk devil to pin the ills of our generation, or any generation, on, I highly recommend you dig deeper than Fat Acceptance or Murphy Brown.

You’ll have to go all the way back to that magnanimous bastard, Thomas Jefferson, who had the audacity to enshrine the importance of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness into the very DNA of our nation.

“Michelle and I both have a BMI over 40. Do you know how many people are fatter than us? 5.7%.”

The myth of the fat invasion has reached epic proportions. I’d really appreciate if you’d provide your source for this percentage (5.7%).

I admit to frequenting some classic weight-loss sites too. I’m interested in hearing what the other side is saying. For the most part, people are filled with irrational fear and self-loathing and it’s really hard (OK, mostly impossible) to counter the myths. However, I feel the need to cross my t’s and dot my i’s when I express the opinion that the Western world is NOT going to hell in a fatbasket.

Absolutely LOVE this posting, Shannon. It made me nod, it made me shake my head, it made me laugh out loud.

Now my question; Am I imagining this, or was it not too long ago that the magic BMI number for “morbidly obese” was different (not 40)? Wasn’t it higher?
Or was it simply the magic number for being “obese” that has changed?
I seem to vaguely recall some sort of ‘readjustment’ to the BMI measures…. ??

    • January 24, 2011 4:45 pm

Back in 1998 the bmi numbers were moved so that overnight, millions of people went from normal to overweight, or from overweight to obese, without gaining a pound.

    • January 24, 2011 4:47 pm

Thanks Fab, I appreciate it. 🙂

The only readjustment I’m aware of was when they lowered the overweight/normal cutoff from 27.8 to 25 in 1998. That turned 25 million Americans overweight overnight. I’m not sure if that happened with the obese category. Can anyone else shed some light?

      Peace,
      Shannon

      Fab@54 –

Are you thinking of the different classes of obesity (like Class I, II, and III)? There have been a couple rounds of naming conventions for the obese part of the BMI. If I remember, they used to say “obese, morbidly obese, and super morbidly obese”…or something very similar to that.

I can tell you as someone who was never married, and no daddy in the picture in 1992 when single mothers were being crucified, as hard as the judgements went with that, it was much more difficult to exist in a society that hates fat people and from the time I was 5 the abuse hurled at me on a daily basis was horrible and it never stopped until I got thin in my 30’s for 6 years and then I was “too” thin. When I gained almost all my weight back and would see people who hadn’t seen me in the 2 years that I was gaining weight, I got looked like one would look at a serial killer.

While have had personal issues with eating and weight, I never thought it was ok to hate a group of people based upon looks or weight. It’s a cruel world, I didn’t realize until I was 26 and first got on net how prevalent for all people of weight the abuse was. I just internalized it personally to me. I still couldn’t believe though grown adults would say the things they do and I am amazed that while the internet can unite, it also can in epic way promote hatred and a lot of that is geared towards fat people.

I post occasionally on HuffPo. And this is what I think people fear with fat acceptance and fat activism. It’s not health they are worried about, its aesthetics. My opinion to me and some others is Fat Acceptance is a human right issue, it’s not a promotion of Obesity as a lifestyle. Feederism is usually a sexual perversion where one party gets off on another gaining massive amounts of weight in a short period of time, that’s unhealthy. I do believe that some people are prone to health issues because of excess weight, but people who are considered to be a healthy weight also get hit with those same diseases. I know thin people who have sleep apnea, high blood pressure and diabetes. I have said in the past and this true, no one has ever done any extensive studies on how we as humans respond differently to internal and external stimuli. While my body doesn’t burn fat stores as effectively as it used to, (the following should hopefully not be considered diet talk) I am still able to lose weight without much effort, as I certainly wont diet again. But all of us as humans we differ. I have friends no matter what they do to lose weight, if they can lose weight, they have to micromanage their diets and do intensive exercise to lose weight, and it never stays off. The issue no one wants to research is how many people have harmed their health by doing everything they can possibly can to lose weight and keep it off.

I don’t know why its taking so long for people to look at fat acceptance as a human rights issue. MeMe Roth when the Marie Claire controversy said almost verbatim that it was ok to for Maura Kelly to feel the way she did because it was repulsive to see people that large be intimate. When I called her out on her fat hatred agenda vs a concern of obesity being a potential health problem (which it is for a FEW, it’s just not applicable to EVERY person who has a BMI of 30 or more) and said to her she was finally at least showing her true fat hating self on obesity being an aesthetic issue for her vs a health one, and that I found her revolting, the comment literally lasted on her FB page for all of TWO minutes before being deleted. What a hate spewing coward she is.

It’s long past due for medicine to reevaluate and individualize health care. I at my heaviest was anemic and had below normal levels of good and bad lipids. I even after a large weight gain was severely anemic, have reactive hypoglycemia and still below normal cholestrol. This is why what you do is important Shannon, what Marilyn Wann , Linda Bacon,Golda Poretsky,Kim Brittingham, Ragen Chastain and Jennifer Jonassen do as well. I admire other bloggers from here and in the fat-o-sphere do just aint gonna make this any longer then it already is, as you can see I’ve well made up now my absences of responses to blogs. with this 5 million word Lisaresponseblog..:)

      Welcome back Lisa!

Fat Acceptance is definitely a human rights issue, and one that is often overlooked because we’re seen as having a “choice” to fix ourselves and therefore avoid the human rights issues, which is just ridiculous considering religion is a choice as well.

It is never okay to hate people, although it is okay to get pissed at people for contemptible beliefs. But, of course, that’s up to interpretation as well.

      Peace,
      Shannon

I highly recommend Living 400 lbs’ post about the warped representation of the obesity epidemic:

    http://living400lbs.wordpress.com/2009/05/22/todays-logic-puzzle/

While there are many people who are above a BMI of 40 and 50, we are not the exception to the rule, yet try convincing the media and medical industry of that.

    • January 25, 2011 9:58 am

I’ve been pretty much repeating this post for the past year and didn’t even know it. 🙂

I especially like this note at the bottom:

Check tables 14 and 15 on BMI; note that 95% of American men have BMIs less than 38.6, and 95% of American women have BMIs less than 41.6.

I wonder if there is more analysis of the higher BMIs. Like over 40, over 50, over 60 etc. Hmmmm….

      Thanks for sharing!

      Peace,
      Shannon

    Wonderful post!

I love how the lady at “Normal Eating” totally acts like HAES isn’t eating according to “body wisdom.” Maybe she doesn’t know about HAES. It’s totally possible because it looks like she hasn’t done any research on FA except for seeing that one clip she linked to.
I itch to post a comment on her blog but won’t because the post is over a year old. But I ITCH, I tell you!

The Bigger Fatter Blog stuff is pure bull. Anyone could see that’s anti-FA. It was put in that article to demonize the FA movement, not that I would have expected anything less. Man, people have a way of making me very cynical.

I’m too gorgeous to be cynical at 21.

    • January 25, 2011 9:53 am

Thanks Lexie. Don’t let the cynicism mar your gorgeous face!

You inspired me to comment, so I did. You should too. Here’s what I wrote (I wonder how long it will stay up there):

      Dear Sheryl,
I am disgusted with what you are doing with attuned eating. The approach you are advocating is a bastardized form of Health at Every Size, which is not about weight loss or achieving a “normal” weight, but about improving your health. In particular, this post about Fat Acceptance is a disgusting misrepresentation of what Marianne Kirby was talking about.

If someone is weight cycling their entire life, they will absolutely destroy their homeostatic system and with each failed diet, their weight may creep upward as their body attempts to make up for the bouts of induced starvation. You completely ignore the damage that weight cycling does to your body and say, “Just eat the Sheryl Canter way and you’ll get to a ‘normal’ weight.”

What is a “normal” weight, Sheryl? Because as far as I understand it, weight is as genetically determined as height. So if you are genetically inclined to be obese, but fight that with weight loss, then you may end up heavier than you were genetically intended.

Are you saying that with your help people will achieve the “Normal” BMI? Are you saying that you know what the ideal weight of all people, whether individually or as a whole, *should* be? Are you saying that if a person eats healthy and exercises, but still weighs 300 pounds, that they are not normal?

Just what are you saying, Sheryl?

I completely support attuned eating, but you are taking the good things that attuned eating teaches and turning it into a weight loss plan, and you should be ashamed of yourself for that.

And your willful misrepresentation of Fat Acceptance is shameless as well. Then again, you’re in good company.

Incidentally, I find it ironic that this page full of myths includes this: “Normal Eating doesn’t require you to eat anything – you can eat whatever you want.” Yet you promote Gary Taubes, who is, essentially, an Atkins apologist. Taubes certainly does not advocate “you can eat whatever you want” and I’m beginning to suspect that neither do you.

      Peace,
      Shannon

You are just too awesome! She seriously rubs me the wrong way for some reason and I think it’s because she ripped off HAES and fucked it all kinds of up and made it into a diet of all things! Fo’ serious?! Also, I hate how she misrepresents the FA movement. “I totally support equality for ALL people, but do you realize you’re FAT?! I can make you ‘normal(tm)’!” Way to totally play on childhood wishes. When I was little, I didn’t want to be pretty, just “normal.” Then I took off the glasses society passes out and looked in the mirror and saw a baby-faced Amizonian Quincess. ;P

Some interesting links you provided there! I went to magichappyhands (or whatever her name is) and read her Anti-Fat-Acceptance-Rant and then made myself read all the comments underneath. One thing really jumped out at me, and it’s something I’ve noticed before in these sorts of discussions. Some of the loudest voices condemning Fat Acceptance and/or agreeing that fat is disgusting are people who then reveal that they are fat themselves.

They’re saying: “I agree that fat is disgusting and I can say this because I’m fat myself, but I’m not one of THOSE bad fatties, I’m a GOOD fatty, because I know I look horrible, but I’m trying to do something about it.”

    Cognitive dissonance!

      Welcome to the party Alexie.

You’re right, self-hating fatties are often the loudest because they feel justified. But that’s just what they’ve been taught by society: fat is bad and you must loathe yourself in order to atone for your sin. Of course, you’ll find the same self-loathing across the entire spectrum of bodies, but fatties seem especially enthusiastic.

      Peace,
      Shannon

Perks of being overweight in this society: learning self-loathing and feeling as if I have to apologize for existing. Yeah. Those are great perks.

FWIW, the guy who runs “Bigger Fatter Blog” is a brain-damaged HVAC engineer named Christopher Gerald Brady. Mr. Brady has a truly unreasonable hatred aimed at two groups 1) doctors and 2) fat people. I’m not using brain-damaged as an insensitive insult here; Brady really is brain-damaged. He’s like a combination of Paul Cameron and Fred Phelps when it comes to fat people, whom he believes are ruining society and whom should be denied medical treatment and forced into fat camps where they can be physically and verbally abused until they learn to “eat responsibly”. The whole purpose of his blog is to demonize and generate disgust and hatred for the fat. Mr. Brady is also into trying to sell his services and his (unpublished) book, as he is the only guy smart enough to have figured out a cure for obesity. The secret? Eat less, move more, and feel guilty for being fat! Truly revolutionary, no?

Brady also likes to accuse and insult other men who disagree with him by claiming his (perceived) opponents are gay. His fascination with supersize women is his primary interest, but clearly he’s got something for gay men too. Does make you wonder, doesn’t it?

Nah, it doesn’t make me wonder, but that’s because I’ve encountered a lot of these twits over the years. These days, I just wonder where the twit factory is that produces them, and why they don’t bother to include brains. Bad for business maybe?

I’ve seen the accusation before: “You like fat women, therefore you’re gay.” WTF?

Just for fun, check out the etymology of fascinated. It’s from the Latin “fascinum”, which you can look up in answers.com .

  17. February 6, 2011 4:07 pm

First of all, Proud FA, I’m a guy. That’s stupid-ass comment number 1.

Second, these stats are from the National Institutes of Mental Health, part of the National Institutes of Health. If you have research from the CDC that conflict with the data I’m citing then present it. Don’t be a douchebag in denial. That’s stupid-ass comment number 2.

Finally, I find it ironic and laughable that you make such iron-clad statements about the “choice” of anorexic and obese people. Anorexia is biological and genetic, and so is obesity, and what they both have in common is that they are triggered by the environment. It may be that there are more triggers for obesity than anorexia, but anorexia is still very deadly. And that is the third stupid-ass comment in such a brief, futile attempt to sound like you know what the fuck you’re talking about.

    Peace,
    Shannon

Oh, in case you haven’t guessed, ProudFA is also Chris G. Brady. He has created several characters so it appears he has a larger following than he really does. In fact, he pretty much is his own following.

    • February 6, 2011 11:30 pm

You write like a girl with PMS and that is why I thought you were a chick because you seem so immune to logic and facts.

Anorexia is so rare that the CDC does not even list it. http://www.cdc.gov/az/a.html

The CDC Office of Rare Diseases lists it.

Here are the facts on obesity.

      http://www.doctorslounge.com/primary/articles/obesity_death/

So that you won’t say that I cherry picked them.

      http://www.google.com/search?q=deaths+obesity+usa&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Telling people bullshit like fat and fit and HAES is irresponsible. Lying to them and telling them that obesity is genetic is pathological. Where were these genes 30 years ago. Why is it that Blacks in Africa are lean and Blacks here are fat?

Obesity is a choice and so is gluttony. Fat Bastard thinks it’s a good choice and so do most Americans. Bigger Fatter Blog is big because it appeals to sane people such as fat guys, FAs, foodies ect..

There are fat girls here who are delusional enough to believe that they are barely eating and still maintain 300+ pounds. Only a real slime would not confront that delusional thinking.

True fat acceptance can never be achieved until gluttony is no longer demonized. The American culture is a greedy food centric culture and some of us think that is a good thing. We see obesity are a positive symptom. Saying that big amounts of food are not the reason people are fat is one of the cruelest lie perpetrated on fat girls. Let’s face it, these girls are not the sharppest cheddar and explaining the laws of physics to them would like be trying to teach a chimpanzee calculus. Those of you who know better and I know that you know better should do the moral thing and come clean about it.

We post picture of gorgeous girl gluttons on BFB all the time. We don’t do it to exploit them as there is not frontal nudity. We do it to celebrate gluttony and body diversity.

Fat Bastard only is attracted to normal women whereas I like all shapes but now I am engaged to a lean woman because I want healthy kids and as you know obese girls have high risk pregnancies. Will you be honest enough to admit to that?

      • February 7, 2011 10:33 am

I’ve deleted your other comments because we have the requisite asshole flags. I’m leaving this one as evidence of your ignorance.

You were stupid enough to pick an article from April 2004 that still cites the 400,000 annual deaths mortality figure. The 400,000 mortality figure included the Overweight and Obese BMIs. It has since been redacted and replaced by the more accurate research of Dr. Katherine Flegal which estimates that Overweight and Obese contribute to 26,000 annual deaths. But if you still want to freak out about it, you can cite the fact that 112,000 Obese people die each year according to those stats (the Overweight category has a negative mortality rate of 86,000).

As far as genetics goes, if you read a fucking book, you’d know that there are fat people in Africa, but when you’re an ignorant fuckwad who relies on stereotypes and sensationalized bullshit to get the attention you crave, then whose to let facts stand in your way. If you want to learn more about the natural diversity of body sizes and shapes in Africa, read “Good Calories, Bad Calories” and Taubes does an excellent job of explaining, even for a simple-minded buffoon such as yourself.

Regarding your comment on pregnancies, my father-in-law is an OB/GYN (primarily OB due to a dearth of OBs in our city) and we’ve had this discussion frequently. It’s not that obese girls have high risk pregnancies, it’s that obesity and poverty are strongly correlated and that a lack of access to quality healthcare makes proper prenatal care difficult. What risk there is with obese pregnancies can be significantly mitigated with inexpensive adaptations to accommodate a larger body. The risks associated with an obese mother are no greater than the risks associated with an underweight mother, and the frequency of the two are similar.

Regarding anorexia, you continue to cite the fact that anorexia isn’t listed in the CDCs diseases, but is covered by the CDC’s Office of Rare Diseases. First of all, the CDC doesn’t have an Office of Rare Diseases. There, is however, the National Organization of Rare Disorders, which is part of the National Institutes of Health. As I stated previously, the statistics I used are official NIH numbers, you stupid bastard. Just because it’s under the NORD does not make it unimportant or less deadly. Cystic Fibrosis is on there as well, it doesn’t mean the disease isn’t devastating to the relatively small number of families who suffer from it. It also doesn’t mean that bigger, more widespread diseases are the only ones we should focus on.

Also, you keep boasting about MeMe Roth and how you’d love to debate her, but she’s scared of you, etc., etc. Guess what, mother fucker, I did debate her one year ago and I wiped the fucking floor with stammering, fat hating bullshit.

Finally, both Fat Bastard and Proud FA are posting from the same fucking IP address. So, unless you’ve got some kind of fucked up “Three’s Company” going on, you’re the same, sad, stupid fucker.

        Photobucket

We’re done allowing you a forum to spout your hatred. You and your “team” of multiple personalities can go fuck yourselves now.

The fact is Fat Bastard’s blog receives more page views than any other FA site and the fact that none of you leave comments there show that you are dishonest and lack the courage of your convictions. Notice too, the projection. Somebody who hates women says a guy who likes women “has no balls”. Somebody who hides behind pseudonyms calls a guy who uses his real name a “coward”.

            Proud FA,
Hey buddy, lookie there, you almost composed an entire comment without using a bunch of fat hating filler. Way to go! I can handle being called a censor and a coward from some anonymous douchebag who responds to his own comments on his own blog because nobody else wants to talk to him. Which makes me wonder if the entire troll lifestyle is caused by a desperate need to connect with other people, but a complete lack of social skills due to the complete absence of a prefrontal cortex.

And unless you have a legitimate multiple personality disorder, you can stop referring to your other personas as though they’re your team of buddies. Unless you and Fat Bastard are roommates and/or lovers, you’re just a single, sad, lonely person with nothing better to do on a Friday night than boast of your non-existent victory.

You wanna kick my ass? Be on Skype next Saturday at noon.

We defended and warded off an assault from a bunch of gym rats in our Jack LaLanne article. Unlike the so called fierce fatties we stood our ground and if you real the comments section you will see that my team of Dr Gerald “Teddy” Bear, of Biggest Fattest Blog, Rev BLA, Proud, Belly Boy and others made fools out if these fat haters. Brady, you are such an incredibly dishonest asshat. The reason your blog has so many page views is that you troll the Web to specifically to send traffic to your blog. The reason “gym rats” posted on your blog was because you told them to, as shown here: http://www.shapefit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11104 .

You go around posting various places using your various aliases just to send people to your pathetic and vulgar blog. Some of Christopher Gerald Brady’s most common aliases: as “Fat Bastard”, “Proud FA”, “Educator”, “Mr Objective”, “Truth”, “Balldez”, “CG Brady”, and “V2 Rocket”.

And you told them your blog was a “fat acceptance” blog, when you yourself admitted, after trolling some poor anorexic’s blog as “Fat Bastard”, that it’s a parody site. So now you’ve branched out now into trolling and ridiculing people with eating disorders. You really are a lower life form, CG Brady. How much of your frontal lobe is functional these days, anyway? When you were brain damaged, did it destroy your ability to both empathize and tell the truth?

I don’t have Skype and I don’t want Skype. You can move to my blog where everything we write can be memorialized. That way you can’t revise history. It will all be there in black and white. In fact, I invite you and all your minions. My team will take on your team.

I am not going to give you or your flunkies any chance of lying your way out of it.

If you want to debate me it will be memorialized and it will be in writing so that you cannot lie like you traditional obsolete fat acceptors do.

When this debate (assuming you have a shred of integrity to do it) is over it will exist for all the world to see and millions of people fat thin and in between will make up their own minds. I doubt that you have the courage to allow it to stand so that everyone can see both sides of it.

Proud and I wrote an articel about why you NAAFA girls have failed and why The FA movement has failed and here it is. http://biggerfatterblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/why-fat-acceptance-has-failed.html

Skype is free and I would post the entire video uncut. The point of doing Skype is so you can’t hide anymore. You either have the courage to state your opinions with your real face or you continue to wallow in your own troll hole.

This is the last time I’m responding to you here. I’m offering you a complete unedited opportunity to show just what you’re made of and you refuse to do so because you are afraid of being seen, of being judged, of being laughed at. And believe me, I understand that fear.

But I will not dip a single toe in your rancid blog, ever.

Face-to-face or nothing, Fat Bastard. If you respond with anything other than a “hell yeah” then I’m done with you, got it? No more comments on my blog, no more humoring you to prove you’re a troll. If you think you’re so right, then bring it where it matters: in person, on Skype.

You know where bigger Fatter Blog is. I do not want Skype and neither does Fat Bastard. We would debate you and your assholes here but you keep deleting what we post and then lie about why you deleted it.

Pick a topic and Fat Bastard or I will create a post on Bigger Fatter Blog. We are not going to waste our time on a debate that we cannot memorialize in writing. You track record is one of a liar and a sneak. We simply don’t trust you for good reason.

There is another possiblilty and that would be in the Fat Acceptance section on My Fat Spouse. I will run the idea past Fat Bastard.

I think MFS would be a great venue. You and your girls will get to sell your brand of Fat Acceptance to fat haters and Fat Bastard will get to sell his brand. I doubt if you have the sack for it and I know you don’t want your histrionic fat girls involved because they can never keep their cool and they always say something stupid.

Chris Brady is definitely an unapologetic misogynist in addition to being a virulent fat hater. Brady has stated that all women ought to have their ovaries removed at age 35 because of how hard PMS and menopause is on the men in their life. He’s called estrogen the “toxic” hormone. Brady also frequently states on various message boards that women have lower IQs than men and are more likely to be mentally ill than men.

Worst of all, and one of the reasons I am trying to get the real story about Chris Gerald Brady as widely disseminated as possible, is that he sanctions violence against women for the sin of being fat. Chris G. Brady asked a male poster on MFS (where he posts as “Married2ASweatHog?”) who came to complain about his fat wife, “Have you tried kicking the shit out of her?” The mod on that site appears to have deleted that particular post; too bad I didn’t screen cap it. But to be fair to Mr. Brady, he sanctions violence against fat men too.

Part of the reason Chris Brady is so fond of anorexics is that not only are they HOT and sexy to him, they stop menstruating, thus freeing the men in their life from the annoyances of PMS.

There were twice as many men with IQ scores of 125, for example, a level said to correspond with people getting first-class degrees.

At scores of 155, associated with genius, there were 5.5 men for every woman. Sorry girls he’s got us on this one.

          FBU:

You posted a link to an article written 6 years ago. Biological research moves very fast. That article and it’s information is severely out-dated.

My biology professor had us write a paper with medical and biological articles as sources and we couldn’t use anything older than 3 years, and even 3 year old articles were peppered with information no longer valid.

          So, yeah. Fail.

        • February 12, 2011 4:32 am

I also find it funny that you spout on about brain tissue and having soooo much of it because you have a penis, when the brain is made up of so much fat.

          Oh, the irony.

Of course men, having busted chromosomes, tend to extremes on BOTH ends of the IQ scale. It’s not hard to guess which end you’re on, and which end you think you’re on.

Bwahahaha! One says “fact check” and does not know one’s facts! Adorable. Really. The ignorance of a child but the hatred only a grown human can posess.

And with all of that hatred one worries about cussing! Ha!

  23. February 7, 2011 4:52 am

Me?! Jealous? Of what? Another person’s body? What a silly fool you are. Saying I’m jealous of another’s body is like saying you’re not a hateful asshole. It’s laughable!

I second the asshole-flag planting. Into the fire with you!

I’ll third it. Time to stop Chris G. Brady, aka “Fat Bastard” aka “Proud FA” aka asshole extraordinaire, from leaving his slime trails here. Brady is such a world-class asshole that I’m thinking of nominating him for the “Millenium Project” (http://www.ratbags.com).

I’ve got the fourth asshole flag. We just need a fifth.

    Peace,
    Shannon

I stayed out of this fight, I’ve had my rounds with Fat Bastard, the fucker follows my blog and comments on it occasionally (which comments never see the light of day). I’ve also been a victim of MFS, a couple of years ago. A blogger friend of mine told me about it and was in tears about them making fun of me, calling me names, etc. I told her I could care less what they thought of me, I didn’t know them, would never know them, didn’t have to know them, and didn’t have to interact with them in real life on a daily basis so why should I give rat’s ass what they thought about me? Told her that people who know me wouldn’t believe what was said about me, and if people who don’t know me believe it, who cares? I don’t know them either and the same thing applies to them as applies to the douchecanoes at MFS – they can all eat shit and bark at the moon. That will get them farther in life than railing at me about anything will.
I learned early on in my blogging career that you don’t feed the trolls. Attention is what they want. And I refuse to give them what they want. I don’t read their comments, I don’t publish their comments, I don’t respond to their comments on other blogs. They’re miserable pieces of shit who have miserable lives and aren’t happy unless they’re making everyone else miserable right along with them. Sorry, I don’t have time for that, I’m too busy living my life fat at the world to bother with trolls.

Yeah, I saw them trash talk you on that forum. They used your real name too. Well, now you can use Chris Brady’s real name whenever he slithers into a fat acceptance area to troll.

For those of you who have figured out the identity of Fat Bastard here is his picture. He’s a medical mal-practice lawyer and fitness nut.

This would explain his Medical Holocaust Blog and his anti fat propaganda.

If that is really who Fat Bastard is, I wonder what his law firm would think of his extracurricular activities. Would they think that maybe he isn’t working hard enough for them and has too much time on his hands, that he can do so much non-work related research and trolling on the internet. Would they possibly want to give him more time to do more non-work related research and trolling on the internet (by firing him). It’s a thought, it’s definitely a thought………………….

No, “Fat Bastard”/”Proud FA” is a guy named Chris Gerald Brady, age 55 1/2 (born 6/15/1955) who is a vision-impaired and brain-damaged HVAC engineer who lives in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He’s definitely not a lawyer.

And by the way, if you’re wondering how I know this, I know it because of what this evil man has posted about himself on various internet forums. I’ve been cybersleuthing this man’s trail of slime recently. Chris Brady had an abusive alcoholic mother who he thinks died because of a medical mistake (administration of Ativan), hence his hatred for women and doctors and the medical industry in general.

        Vesta,
Ignore Fat Bastard Unmasked. Same IP as Proud FA, same person.

Yeah, that’s the third persona he has used here. I’m sure there are plenty more where they came from too.

        Peace,
        Shannon

I have no clue if Fat Bastard really is Chris Brady or not and quite frankly, I don’t care. But I do know that this “Fat Bastard Unmasked” is Proud FA is Fat Bastard.

What sort of sad, pathetic life must a person be living if he has (at least) three online personas carrying on conversations with himself?

Alright Fat Bastard, you want a fight, I’ll give you a fight. Next Saturday, we’ll debate the subject of obesity and health on Skype. No hiding behind aliases, no “parody” of Fat Acceptance, no vulgar epithets… just you and me discussing the issues. I’ll record the whole thing and post it in its entirety.

No more hiding, Fat Bastard. It’s time to put your money where you’re big, fat mouth is. You want to spout these hateful opinions all over the internet, but now it’s time for you to do it in person so we can see the slimy creep behind all the hatred.

      Peace,
      Shannon

You’re dead on, LVB. That is Burr DeBenning, star of “Incredible Melting Man,” one of my favorite MST episodes (and you can watch the entire thing on YouTube here). That’s where Atchka! comes from too (I wrote more about it here).

Chris Brady uses ancient research to try and prove his theories and trolls blogs looking for non-self loathing fat people to torment and uses multiple ID’s to leave hateful comments.

Not very intelligent and not very sane, so therefore, he just disproved his belief that men are smarter and less likely to be mentally ill.

  29. February 13, 2011 3:45 pm

“You girls are pathetic, our girls kick ass.”
What does that even mean? Except that the commenter is a misogynist.
Last time I looked there were both girls and guys who seemed to consider themselves a part of this community.
This “Fat Bastard” person is an asshole and a transparent one at that. He is clearly a troll.
