This post will remain at the top of our page until the end of June. Scroll down to find our Fresh, Daily Content.

Although we’ve toyed with the idea of allowing advertising on Fierce, Freethinking Fatties, I personally prefer to keep the site free of commercial clutter. However, I strongly believe in supporting projects that make the world a better place for fatties. To that end, we are placing this sticky note at the top of our page to support three fundraising efforts that we believe in. You can check out our posts on Olympic weightlifter Holley Mangold’s t-shirts (ends with August 12 Olympic closing ceremonies) and  start-up funds for a plus-sized athletic clothing company Flying Pig Apparel (they’ve currently raised $5,500 of the $11,000 needed by June 30). You can reach their respective fundraising sites by click on the images below:

These are good, demonstrable ways to support the kinds of projects, and people, who are making a positive impact on our culture. So if you can, please give generously. And with the amazing donation level gifts, it’s like an NPR pledge week for fatties. So dig deep and support the community!

CONGRATULATIONS!

To KL Going, Matthew Lillard and everyone involved with the production of Fat Kid Rules the World who have reached their $150,000 goal and will now promote the movie in conjunction with the 42-city Vans Warped Tour; pay for marketing, publicity and distribution consultants; and pay for regional and national advertising in newspapers, magazines, on Facebook, on Twitter and elsewhere online.
