Fatting in NYC (and The Fat Naked Art Project)

January 2, 2015

Please support our fundraiser.

For over a year now, I’ve posted (almost) every week on my blog for a project I simply call The Fat Naked Art Project (NSFW). I’ve had the chance to work with some amazing local men and women, but this past week I had the amazing opportunity to travel to NYC and shoot, as well as pose, for Substantia Jones and The Adipositivity Project (NSFW).

First, I was a little worried about being fat in the city. When I saw the little turn gates in the subway I wondered if I’d fit. When I thought about the seats on the subway or the buses, I wondered if I’d be in the way. When I ate at tiny restaurants (because who has room in NYC for anything bigger?), I wondered if I’d have to squeeze in. All in all, I had no trouble at all. Hell, nobody even looks at you twice (or nobody that I encountered anyway)! I may have had to slink sideways into the subway station after sliding my metro card, and I was sardined when trying to get to the tree at Rockefeller Plaza, but it was a wonderful trip!

And now, onto the fat ladies! These are all SFW photos, but if you want to see more, be sure to follow us on Facebook as well as the blog (link above).

Without further ado, I want you to meet the amazing women that I had the chance to photograph in NYC! (one face not shown for anonymity purposes). These women were wonderful and delightful to work with and I’m beyond excited and happy to be posing their photos in the coming weeks!

Didn’t Leonard Nimoy also do a book of photos of fat nudes? I recall reading about that. George Takei should take notes.

I want to be a model for this project but I can’t travel and I wish they would come to my city
