What makes Fierce, Freethinking Fatties different from other Fat Acceptance sites?

We’re thicker than most.

And no, I’m not talking about our asses.

I’m referring to our skin.

Triple F bloggers and readers are thick-skinned and can handle ourselves just fine in a fray, thank you very much.

We also take responsibility for the information we ingest. We don’t need someone to edit out the bad stuff. We know what bad stuff means to us and we are capable of avoiding it ourselves.

We’re also capable of reading opposing viewpoints, controversial opinions, troubling statistics, unsettling anecdotes and all manner of uncomfortable information without taking it as a personal attack on my sensibilities or a reflection of the author’s morality.

We recognize that everyone who seeks information on Fat Acceptance has arrived at this critical moment of reflection by our own unique and, often, painful path. Some of us are at the beginning of that path, still raw from the hatred and discrimination we must face every day. Others have been around the track a few times and need no introduction.

By creating a space where you are in control of the information, we allow people to walk that path at their own pace. Perhaps today you aren’t interested in reading about the latest study that debunking the idea of benign obesity. But maybe tomorrow, or someday down the road, you’ll want to read the analysis from bloggers you trust. Maybe you’ll want to know whether it is possible to be metabolically stable, yet still be at a higher mortality risk. Maybe you’ll want to test the limits Fat Acceptance or Health at Every Size orthodoxy.

Fierce fatties are encouraged to do so.

We are not here to cushion the reality of modern obesity. We are here to dig through the data — dig deep — and discover the essential truth behind obesity. We are here to ignore the hysterics and dismissals that have become so common on both sides of the War on Obesity.

And we are also here to provide you with the keys to unlock that truth at the level you are comfortable with.

Just want to read some kickass blogs by fatass bloggers? Our feed will filter out the controversy and drama, and leave you with the sweet, sweet simplicity of the day-to-day fatty.

Just want to read banner-waving Fat Acceptance? Our feed will filter out the chatter about who wore what and where, leaving just the hardcore FA principles you rely on for support.

Just want to read the latest science? Our feed will filter out the ideology that can sometimes cloud an otherwise rational discussion.

You want it all?

You got it.

Fat Acceptance is not just for the advocates.

Fat Acceptance is not just for the scholars.

Fat Acceptance is not just for the choir.

Fat Acceptance is for the fat.

And the Fierce, Freethinking Fatties is home of the fat.

How does a definately fierce, certain freethinking queer fattie happen to join your sumptuous crew exactly? Is there an application process of some kind perhaps? If you would like to know more about me I am very excited to share and put myself out there for consideration. Please do let me know!

      Hey Ali,
Atchka our ringleader is probably offline until Monday or so, but you’d probably want to touch base with him to give him an idea of what you’re looking for.
If you already blog (which I can see you do) maybe a link or two.
p.s. just read your post/letter to insomnia- great stuff:)

      Howdy MsJinxx,
You’re actually our first post-creation request to join, so congratulations! You get to help us develop our method of adding new writers. My main thing with adding new writers is that it will be a democratic process with the rest of the FFFs crew.

The whole of my journalism experience comes from my brief stint on the staff of the Mizzou Maneater student paper, where they had open editorial meetings and anyone could volunteer to write an article. Once you wrote three articles, you were officially a staff member. So, I think a good start, especially since you’re a blogging newbie, is to submit a guest blog. Just pick a theme, get writing and when you’re done send to me at In the meantime, I’ll huddle with my homies and see how they would like to handle it.

But be warned, we have a fairly harsh hazing process that involves carrying a rabid raccoon through the Vatican, but we’ll tell you more about that later.

What an interesting blog you have here. I’m looking for an “about” page and I don’t see one. I’m interested to know who the contributors are and what makes you take the stands that you do. In case you’re interested, here’s something I wrote on my blog about a fat experience I had at my doctor’s office (and am still having, as it turns out they still think I’m fat.
Good luck with your blog – looks like it’s doing well so far.

Thanks Huffygirl and welcome to Fierce Fatties. You can check out our brief bios on our Fatties page. I also created an overview page that kind of explains how the site works here. I’ll check out your link when I have a bit more time. Thank you for sharing and for visiting us. Hope you enjoy our blog.
